Starting a podcast is, hands down, the very best thing I have ever done in my business.

Like, ever.

No exceptions.

As a marketing channel, there is in my humble opinion simply none better.

The intimacy of the podcasting platform, the way it builds the know, like and trust factor and the fact that podcasters tend to binge listen has meant that the quality of clients and customers that I have generated from it have been second to none.

If you’re willing to commit to creating regular content consistently, the payoff for a would be podcaster is tremendous – though not always in the ways that you think.

In this episode of Stevie Says Social podcast, I break down all of the different ways in which starting a podcast has transformed my business.

If you’re thinking about starting a podcast, wondering if podcasting is for you or perhaps wondering whether all of the effort and work involving editing, recording and promoting a podcast is worthwhile, this is a must listen.

(Spoiler alert? It’s TOTALLY worthwhile).

Seven ways podcasting has transformed my business:

1. It built my personal brand

Nothing has built my personal brand as a social media and digital marketing expert more than podcasting has. Why? Simple. Podcasting gives me a platform to showcase my expertise and to establish myself as an authority in my field. In other words, it proves to people that I know my S#@$. This has given me a level of credibility that no amount of Instagram posts could ever do.

2. I no longer competed on price

When I first started out in business, many of the potential clients that contacted me would be price shopping. And, understandably so. Social media management is an incredibly saturated market, and in the absence of another other differentiator you will always compete on price in these types of markets. One of the biggest benefits of podcasting, especially when I was still a service based business, was that this stopped. I would instead have people contacting me to work with ME, and I started to find that price wasn’t an issue.

3. It expanded my network

The third big benefit of starting a podcast, for me, was a very unexpected but happy side effect. Podcasting became the ultimate networking opportunity. When you have a podcast, your potential reach out and connect with those you admire and respect is much higher. You have the opportunity to speak to people you look up, in circumstances where you normally would never have the ability to.

4. It supercharged email list growth

Starting a podcast supercharged my email list growth. I went from 500 email subscribers to over 10,000 organically in the space of a year simply by being strategic with my podcast calls to action and giving people a reason to head over to my website and subscribe.

5. It allowed me to sell out online course and membership launches

When I first started my podcast, I had a service based business. I’d always dreamt of creating courses and online offerings, but I had never had an audience of people big enough – or interested enough – to make it happen.

Starting my podcast grew a sizeable audience of people who started to know, like and trust in me. By providing huge amounts of free value, I established my authority and it made people want to learn more from me. It is the reason that I was able to have two six figure plus launches in the space of six months.

6. Learning and personal development

Having a podcast means that you teach people about what you know. Another unexpected but very cool side effect of podcasting that also allows you to learn on the job! Many of the guests on my podcast fill knowledge gaps of my own, and they are often chosen because I want to know more about a particular topic. Having access to an expert to ask questions to has transformed my business in so many ways!

7. It created connection in a way that no other medium can

The connection created with your listeners from the podcasting medium is second to none, and unlike anything that I have ever experienced before. Imagine someone listening to you talking for an hour every week, and the type of intimate connection that this creates?

If you think that podcasting sounds like something you might like to dive into, you’re in luck. Doors are open to my Podcast Blueprint!
