The Four Essential Elements for Online Course Success
There are four key elements that you MUST have in place to succeed as an online course creator.
On the offer side? Having a killer, irresistible offer that has people lining up for you to take their money, and on the fulfilment side, the ability to deliver it with excellence. All of the traffic and conversion in the WORLD won’t work without these elements in place.
On the sales side? Is traffic/leads and conversion — the focus of today’s episode.
Traffic
Traffic refers to the number of eyeballs that you are able to drive to your selling system. Choosing traffic sources is a key element of your marketing plan.
In our view, the BEST way to look at traffic is in two buckets — nurture sources, and growth sources. You can’t focus ONLY on nurture sources to grow your audience, and similarly it is difficult to build authority and intimacy with ONLY growth sources. You need both.
Conversion
Conversion refers to the number of leads that purchase. When putting together a selling system for your offer, there are actually a number of “conversion points” that allow you to measure and improve on each step in your selling system.
- Invite Conversion Rate: This is the percentage of TRAFFIC that turns into a lead. For example, if you are inviting people to a webinar – it is the number of people that land on the webinar page (traffic) that opt in (lead).
- Engage Conversion Rate: This is the percentage of LEADS that engage with your launch event. For example, for a live webinar this is the percentage of people that showed up.
- Purchase Conversion Rate: This is the percentage of LEADS or engaged leads that purchase your offer.
In Summary…
A successful online course selling system has a steady flow of highly qualified traffic (aka a traffic engine) and a well optimised and high performing selling system (aka a conversion engine).
